Nikki McCoy is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. The story here is familiar: a big tough paranormal Dom falls for a beautiful, abused tragi-boy. Mating, rescues, crises, and more rescues ensue--and also a lot of hot D/s sex. But McCoy manages to deploy the familiar genre tropes without the cynicism you so often find. Instead, her books are filled with a genuine affection for her characters and an admirable ability to get right to the core of why these tropes are effective and popular in the first place. Definitely an author I will always happily read. Recommend.Product details

Good story, with a sci fi sort of twist.
After four years on the run and half a dozen years of peaceful existence Lucas Matthews is living in plain sight as the owner of a high end liquor store. A Tsielen by birth, Lucas pretends to be human so that his own kind doesn’t find him, because leaving is not a forgivable option.
When Kyle Jennings told his father that he was gay he was kicked out, never mind the fact that he was a fifteen year old high school student. His older brother came to Kyle’s rescue then turned the tables by literally giving Kyle to an older Dom. At first Kyle accepted Craig and his way of life, but over time the Dom became more and more abusive in his demands. Lately the only bright spot in Kyle’s life is the job he has at the liquor store though it’s getting harder to hide the physical damage Craig inflicts.
It’s becoming increasingly obvious to Lucas that something is very wrong in Kyle’s life even though he denies it. The problem for Lucas is that he’s drawn to Kyle and fears that he might be over reacting simply because he wants to interfere and have Kyle for himself. Also, keeping apart from others has left him safe so far, the last thing he wants to do is endanger the man he’s fallen for. When Kyle calls in to quit however Lucas knows that it’s time to butt in. Whether he exposes his life or not, Lucas can’t let Kyle be hurt anymore, that’s all that matters now.
My Forever is a mixed bag of intrigue, suspense, and romance. The focal point is the tender love story between Lucas and Kyle, but there’s also the little matter of the Tsielen’s hunting their renegade and an abusive Dom lover. Lucas takes the time to teach Kyle what a true Dom/sub relationship should be which helps Kyle heal just in time for his life to be under attack again. Author Nikki McCoy skillfully manages to blend the various plot points together in a cohesive way that makes perfect sense. Bottom line, My Forever offers a lovely romance within an action packed drama.
